40 vol for a bleach bath??

Hi guys, sorry if this is a stupid question but I have a younger sister who wants me to slowly lighten her hair, so of course I said I'd bleach bathe it for her.

However she bought 40 vol peroxide. Can I still use this for a bleach bath if I dilute it more or should I just avoid it altogether and get her to buy a lower volume?

Thanks!

you can use it but I'd be cautious, I got burnt from a 40vol bleach bath which was really diluted and I had coconut oil on! so I don't really know what happened there :(!

Ooh I might just not risk it then. Thanks for the advice!

I've never used 40-v for a bleach bath, nor diluted for root touch-ups... it just seems way too strong and damaging.  So I second the advice and, as peroxide isn't terribly expensive, I'd say go for a lower strength, even 30-v.

I think the advice I've learnt here is that 40-v diluted 50:50 to make effectively 20-v is still much stronger than a 20-v used neat.

I've used 40vol quite a few times but mostly for tiny fast corrections or VERY heavily diluted. Eitherway if you don't know how will her hair or scalp react I wouldn't risk it.
